Why ModestFashion AI exists
Type "modest outfit for a summer wedding" into a mainstream shopping engine and you'll get bare shoulders, sheer fabric, and hip-hugging silhouettes wearing the word "modest" as a hashtag, not a promise.
ModestFashion AI exists to fix that. We're the AI-powered styling assistant built specifically for women who dress with intention — whether that intention comes from faith, culture, personal comfort, or all three. Describe what you need in plain language — "an abaya for an Eid dinner in Dubai," "modest workwear that isn't shapeless," "hijab colors that go with olive skin" — and our AI does the work a search bar never could: understanding coverage, silhouette, fabric, and occasion the way a stylist who actually gets modest fashion would.
The gap I kept running into
I'm Nikiara Purmambietova, and this isn't the first time I've tried to close this gap.
I grew up in Ukraine as a Crimean-Tatar woman, piecing together outfits that felt current and still comfortably covered — long before "modest fashion" was a category retailers understood, let alone optimized for. Years later, after building a career in tech and product across 15+ years as a business analyst and product lead, I went looking for that same thing again: modest pieces that felt modern, well-made, and mine. What I found instead were incredible designers scattered across Türkiye, Indonesia, and the wider MENA region — extraordinary work, completely disconnected from the women who wanted to buy it.
That frustration became ModestBeauty.com, the marketplace I founded in 2025 to bring those designers and modest shoppers onto one platform. It worked. But building it taught me something the spreadsheets couldn't: the hardest part of modest fashion was never inventory — it was discovery. Even with hundreds of beautiful pieces in one place, women were still stuck doing the manual work of filtering, comparing, and guessing what would actually suit them, their coverage preferences, and their lives.
Generic AI shopping tools weren't going to solve it either. Ask a mainstream fashion AI for "date night outfit" and modest simply isn't in its vocabulary — coverage, layering, and cultural nuance get treated as edge cases instead of the starting point. So we decided to build the vocabulary ourselves.
